Region 5 Members attend their 62nd Annual Conference

Around thirty people gathered from far and wide at the Meningie Sailing Club on Monday, 19th June to attend the Friends of the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Inc. Auxiliaries Division Region 5 conference.

Region 5 auxiliary groups include Pinnaroo, Lameroo, Tintinara and Meningie with children from these towns utilising the Women’s and Children’s hospital.

Anni Milln, recently retired Nursing UniSA Lecturer opened the conference with her experiences of nursing children during her many decades in England and Australia. Marianne Cunneen gave a vote of thanks to Anni and presented her with a potted Peace Lily.

This was followed by the roll call, apologies, and reports from each auxiliary present. Guest speaker Di Smith-McCue, Director, Consumer and Community Engagement, WCHN presented on consumer advocate achievements, mental health impacts and Planetree International Certification.

Pinnaroo member Tiffany Atze gave a vote of thanks to Di and presented her with a gift. This was followed by a regional report from Friends President, Pauline Linke and a State report from State President Jill Kaesler. A ‘Friends’ report from Business Manager, Andrew Wade was read prior to the election of officers.

After much coaching, Pinnaroo member Tiffany Atze took on the role of Region 5 Chair with Judith Atze accepting the role of Vice Chair. Lunch was enjoyed by all those present to conclude the day.

The annual conference gives auxiliary members and the community the opportunity to engage and gain knowledge of the various ways to fundraise within their communities.
