The Friends give a HUG
At a time of joy and stress, coming into Hospital over the Christmas period is sometimes the last thing that families need. It is often the little things that brighten people’s days, so for Christmas this year The Friends of WCH Inc, will be supporting an initiative of the Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN) Consumer Feedback and Improvement Group.
The initiative referred to as HUG (Helping You Give) will spread the happiness to families in the Women’s and Children’s Hospital (WCH) by surprising some families with one of three types of vouchers (for a coffee, to spend in one of the shops or for a meal).Leveraging from a media story earlier in August 2016 where a hospital consumer left a random $10 note at the WCH car park for another consumer, to brighten their day. The Friends have supported the development of a “giving back” voucher system over the Christmas and New Year period.
The H.U.G vouchers will be distributed to long-stay and intensive care wards of the WCH and be provided to families in hardship or emotional need from the 21st November 2016 – 31st March 2017. The H.U.G initiative will be trailed for this upcoming Christmas and New Year period then reviewed to assess the long term viability.A total of 436 vouchers will be distributed to the wards, and will also be given out by the WCH Fairy Face Painter when she paints the children’s faces.
