The Friends of the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Incorporated (Friends) 24th Annual Conference allowed for members and staff to get an in depth understanding of what is happening within our charity organisation.

The importance of the Friends is emphasized throughout the conference with Amanda Blair in her speech acknowledging the work our volunteer members do. The Friends are able to support the Women's and Children's Health Network (WCHN) with people donating their time to volunteer in our two shops located at the hospital and by holding various fundraising events.

A demonstration of the equipment the Friends donated showed why our organisation continues their effort to seek donations and become the charity or choice for more South Australians. The equipment donated included a Pressure Relieving Bank, Transport Docking System and the Pectus Crane System that help a variety of people. The Pectus Crane System allows doctors to utilise the latest treatment techniques for the condition Pectus Excavatum mainly concerning teenagers.

Along with financial donations to the hospital the conference showcased the work the Friends Fellowship recipients have accomplished throughout their time abroad. Many thanks to Kerrin Windsor and Kate Goode who delivered presentations on attending the ASPEN Conference in Texas as a speaker, and physiotherapy roles in Women’s health in the United Kingdom and Australia.

We were fortunate to hear from the CEO of the WCHN Adjunct Associate Professor Naomi Dwyer who highlighted the importance of the Friends and how the hospital is continuing its initiative to be the leading provider of specialist care for women and children.

Thank you to our main sponsor of the conference Radiometer Pacific.
