Making Hospital Children Birthdays Brighter

A very special thank you to Ava.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to the lovely Ava, who recently completed a wonderful service-learning project by creating 10 beautiful gift baskets for children spending their birthdays in hospital.

Ava came up with the idea after learning about the work of the Friends of the Women’s & Children’s Hospital. She wanted to use her community service hours to do something that would brighten a child’s day — and what a thoughtful idea it was!

Ava carefully put together each basket at home, with the hope that it would bring a little happiness and a smile to a child during what can be a difficult time.

The baskets have now been passed on to the Hospital’s Play Therapy team, who will give them to children celebrating their birthdays while in hospital.

Ava, thank you for your kindness, creativity and generosity, and for taking the time to learn about the Friends and the difference our volunteers make for children and families at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

We loved meeting you and your parents and hearing all about your project. You should be very proud of what you have achieved!
