Friends Tarlee/Stockport’s Melbourne Cup Lunch Raises $5,000
The Tarlee/Stockport Friend’s Auxiliary pulled off yet another spectacular Melbourne Cup lunch, welcoming 85 enthusiastic guests at the vibrant Riverton Recreation Grounds.
Guests were treated to a delightful start with a complimentary glass of bubbly, all while being greeted by a stunning flower garland, lovingly crafted by auxiliary member Leanne Griffiths, perfect for capturing memories throughout the day. Attendees savoured a mouthwatering cold meat and salad buffet, followed by a lavish grazing table brimming with delectable desserts, courtesy of On The Plains Grazing and Catering. Local Riverton boutique Sassy Lass showcased a delightful fashion parade featuring chic outfits for the upcoming summer and festive season to add even more flair to the day. The Fashions on the Field competition was a tough one for the judges, who were faced with an array of fabulous contestants. After much deliberation, the coveted ‘Best Dressed’ title went to the stylish Emma Zanette, while Sharon Woods took home ‘Best Headwear’. The award for ‘Most Creative Headwear’ was claimed by the talented Fiona O’Neill, who wowed everyone with her exquisite hand-quilled fascinator.
The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as race sweeps, lucky squares, and the popular wine wall added to the fun, offering plenty of chances to win prizes throughout the day. The grand raffle, drawn after the main race, revealed some fantastic prizes: D. Jantke from Clare snagged an original painting by local artist Andrew Quixley for first prize, while D. Williams from Auburn delighted in a luxurious accommodation package at Ryelands Farmstay for second prize. Lastly, R. Scott from Modbury took home a delightful wine accessories package from Koco Homes, Kapunda.
Thanks to the generous contributions of attendees and local businesses, the event raised over $5000 for the hospital. The auxiliary extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a part in making the day such a resounding success, especially to our wonderful supporters: Taylors Wines, Auburn Event Hire, AW Vater & Co, Sassy Lass, Tarlee Bakery, and Valley Tech.
