Friends Queen Victoria Auxiliary Donates $24,400 to Support Neonatal Care

Friends of Women's and Children's Hospital Victoria Auxiliary

The Friends of the Women’s and Children Hospital would like to thank the members of the Queen Victoria Auxiliary for raising funds for important equipment needed for Neonatal care.

The Queen Victoria Auxiliary continues to uphold its longstanding tradition of supporting the health and care of mothers and their newborns. This year, through a series of community-driven events, including movie nights, bridge days, local entertainment and general gatherings, the Queen Victoria

Auxiliary proudly raised $24,400 to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Special Care Baby Unit at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Thanks to the generosity of our members, donors, and supporters, we’re delighted to announce that the funds raised have gone directly towards purchasing medical equipment that will greatly enhance the care provided to some of the hospital’s tiniest and most vulnerable patients.

With the support of our wonderful community, the following equipment has been purchased for the Women's and Babies Division at the Women's and Children's Hospital (WCH).

  • Transducer for the NICU – $13,000

This vital device precisely monitors infants' vital signs, ensuring that any changes in their condition are detected early and addressed promptly.

  • Phototherapy Unit for the NICU – $5,800

This equipment is crucial for treating jaundice in newborns. It provides a safe and effective way to reduce bilirubin levels and prevent complications in vulnerable infants.

  • Milk Warmers (x2) for the Special Care Baby Unit – $2,800

These warmers are invaluable for ensuring that newborns receive properly heated milk, which is important for their nutrition and comfort.

  • Overnight Chair for the NICU – $2,800

This chair will provide much-needed comfort for parents staying overnight with their babies, allowing them to remain close to their newborns during critical moments of care.

The fundraising efforts behind these purchases were nothing short of remarkable. From the camaraderie of bridge days to the shared joy of movie nights, each event was a testament to the spirit of giving and community involvement that defines the Queen Victoria Auxiliary.

The funds raised reflect the deep commitment of all those who participated through donations, events, or volunteering their time.

Every dollar helps ensure that the Women’s and Children’s Hospital remains equipped with the best tools to care for its most fragile patients during an extremely challenging time.

The Queen Victoria Auxiliary remains dedicated to supporting the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. As we celebrate this success, we are already planning future events to raise even more funds for additional equipment and services that will continue to enhance care for newborns and their families.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this incredible achievement. Your generosity is truly making a difference in the lives of these newborns and their families. Together, we are giving every baby the best possible start in life.
