Camelot Garden Stroll

Kadina residents Helen and Dean Rodda held their final ‘Camelot Garden Stroll’ springtime opening generously allowing all gate proceeds to be donated to The Friends of the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Inc’. Helen has been a member of the Friends Kadina Auxiliary for just over 30 years and continues to work tirelessly for charities within the local community.

The Garden in its springtime glory was opened on Saturday 4th November and Sunday 5th November from 10am to 4pm. A vast array of gorgeous green trees provided shade as the sun shone and birds and butterflies flitted through the garden. Better weather need not be ordered, as the garden turned on its brilliant display of beautiful coloured flowers on its most fine days!

Saturday saw 290 adults stroll through the garden with 278 visitors on Sunday. Auxiliary members were busy as they manned the gates, raffle table and served scones, tea and coffee. Patrons were offered the choice of sweet or savoury scones and delighted in casually wandering around the garden exploring the many different sections each with their own unique display. It was a great opportunity to catch up with friends amongst the beautiful surrounds.

Visitors to the garden were able to purchase an assortment of goods from the Royal Flying Doctors trading table. Their highlight was the baked produce of sponge rolls, jams and preserves, biscuits, cakes and various sweet and savoury treats. Visitors were also able to view and purchase an assortment of metal art from the Angaston Blacksmiths Shop with a display set up in the garden.

The Kadina Auxiliary members were proud of their amazing fundraising efforts achieved over the weekend and thank community members and businesses for their support. A big thankyou and congratulations must go to Helen and Dean Rodda, who opened their garden allowing ‘Friends’ to be their final ‘charity of choice’.

The total amount raised over the weekend tallied to $12,400 and will be used to purchase pre-selected equipment items for the Women’s and Children’s Health Network.
