Edgehill Farm Stays Supports WCH Renal Unit
The Friends of the WCH collaborated with Edgehill Farm Stays to raise funds for the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Renal Unit to take the stress away for the families during this difficult time.
The unit provides services for children and young people living in South Australia and the Northern Territory who live with chronic kidney disease, high blood pressure and kidney failure.
The units staff suggested that all funds raised could purchase food, petrol and gift vouchers which will be issued to families as their loved ones undergo dialysis treatment at the hospital.
Shevahn and Tricia, first thought of the idea after the sad loss of Shevahn’s daughter Elsie Glynn who passed away in August last year due to a failed kidney transplant. Shevahn and Tricia, with the support of family and friends decided to raise funds directly for the Renal Unit via Tricia’s camping business in the Mid North, Edgehill Farm Stays.
Collection containers were provided for campers staying at the farm allowing guests to make either a cash or an online donation for the Renal Unit.
Thanks to those generous families that stayed and donated, $1,135 has been raised so far. Whilst this is the end of the farm stays season for 2022, Tricia and Peter look forward to fundraising again for the unit next year.
“We love welcoming our guests to share our beautiful property at Riverton. We share a few wines at the Sunset Baa, and our Edgehill Beanies, where they all generously put donations in the money tins provided from Friends. We also had a coffee and cake donation in the Milky Way Hutt on June long weekend, which was also a big hit” explains Tricia.
Online donations can still be made for the unit via the Friends website https://wchfriends.com.au/donate recording Edgehill Farm Stays as the reason for donating.
The Friends and WCH would like to thank Shevahn and all the team at Edgehill Farm Stays for supporting the Renal Unit.
