For the third year running, Tarlee / Stockport Auxiliary Division hosts another successful Melbourne Cup luncheon
The Tarlee / Stockport Auxiliary held for the third year running a Melbourne Cup luncheon at the Hotel Central. Hosts of the hotel Harry, Adam Klavins and Jasmin Connell opened their doors to 60 people for an afternoon of sweeps, a fashion parade from the Riverton boutique Sassy Lass and Chef Matthew Mitchell did not disappoint with a superb lunch menu.
Main course was alternate drop with Lemon butter glazed & baked Atlantic salmon served with a vermicelli noodle, wombok & sugar snap peas salad or guests enjoyed the slow cooked & rolled crispy skin pork belly with roast pear, pomegranate, feta & candied pecan salad, sweet potato puree and coconut rice. Dessert was a treat with either classic French crème caramel with salted toffee shards & raspberries or eggnog baked cheesecake with cinnamon & nutmeg infuse chantilly cream and fresh strawberries.
President Jackie Bruce, Secretary Annie Nicholls and the whole committee were pleased for the opportunity with the auxiliary raising just over $2,500. So many country families are grateful for the fantastic services the hospital provide and the small but passionate committee see the value in raising funds to help purchase valuable equipment.
Once businesses were approached and told of the fundraiser the committee were overwhelmed with support. Bronwyn from Sassy Lass in Riverton, was very generous and provided seasonally dressed mannequins for display, held a fashion parade with very obliging models and donated the prize for best headwear and best dressed.
Thank you also to the following business and individuals for their support of our fundraiser, Sassy Lass boutique (Riverton), Hotel Central, Pikes Wines, O’Leary Walker wines, Greg Cooley wines, Hill River wines, Claymores, Kies wines, Kalleske wines, Emporium Café, Four leaf milling, Pure Grace Handmade, Quercus, Coffee Palace Gallery, Mickelloo, Kristin Griffiths, Janine Callery, Tiny Nest, A Joyful Bunch, Jackie Bruce, Audrey Hill & family, Chris Dunn, and Di Dawson.
Best dressed as voted by our committee Shevahn Robinson, Rhynie. And Best headwear, was Alicia Branson, Tarlee.
Many sweeps were sold throughout lunch with patrons collecting winnings from their horses.
The Auxiliary raffle was also drawn in the afternoon with the winners being:
1 st Prize – Bev Teusner, Audrey Hill original painting.
2 nd Prize – Chris Campbell, Mosaic garden decoration made by Rosemary Dunn
3 rd Prize – Julie Tucker, Peter Lehmann Magnum
4 th Prize – (winner to be contacted), succulent plants
The committee want to once again thank everyone that attended. A fabulous day out raising money for a great cause.
